V1
Never a day with no weather
Wind works over time (all the time)
But it don’t turn the world that stopped flowers dropped
in the river
go
Chorus
Tumblin Tumblin Tumblin
Tumblin Tumblin Tumblin under water
Tumblin Tumblin Tumblin
V2
Take forever twenty-two
I’d give all of mine back in time
There’s no deal no appeal no good no consolation
Inside blue
that goes
Chorus
Tumblin Tumblin Tumblin
Tumblin Tumblin Tumblin under water
Tumblin Tumblin Tumblin
V3
Stars don’t need sun to shine
Light just spills with dust
All things fall like in love how it was when new
Bridge
Words pour but they can’t fill us up
Bring the rain to wash away
Bring the rain wash away
C’mon rain wash me away
drops go
Chorus
Tumblin Tumblin Tumblin
Tumblin Tumblin Tumblin under water
Tumblin Tumblin Tumblin
This song is in honor of Baeley, who died at 22 while riding his motorcycle last October, for Kelly, his mom. I can't do much to ease her grief, but I share in part of it; will always be remembering Baeley, and celebrating him, his brother, and Kelly.
In four hours alone in a church the song came together. This recording is my second day playing A Day Without Weather, earlier this week. Baeley's favorite color was blue and he loved the river. As part of one of his memorial services, we dropped flowers for him into the Potomac at Violettes Lock. This song is memory, prayer, and promise to Kelly that I'll always honor her boys.
Last night, Kelly gave an exceptional, honest, articulate, captivating, heartbreaking, and eloquent reading of poems from her forthcoming collection, the gift, and one from the collection that will follow. I kicked off the night by performing this song. It was the first time I didn't mess up while playing at Open Notes. The night was remarkable, the occasion beautiful. Funny how a heart can be so full and wrecked at once.
For Baeley, For Kelly
